One dead, two injured in early morning Chestnuthill crash

MCMICHAELS — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an early morning crash in Chestnuthill Township on Sunday that left two men injured and one woman dead.

Kathleen Novack, 20, of Henryville, was sitting in the rear of a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer travelling south on Route 715 around 3:26 a.m.

According to State Police at Fern Ridge, the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a turn in the road, causing the vehicle to hit a bridge about 100 feet north of Hypsie Gap Road.

Sean Cramer, 19, of Tannersville, was driving. Cramer and Novack were ejected from the vehicle during collision. Police say they were not wearing seat belts.

Thomas Learn, 21, was riding in the front passenger seat and wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Learn suffered minor injuries.

Police say Cramer fled the scene after the accident but was located a few hours later. Novack and Cramer were flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital by medical helicopter where Novack was pronounced dead.

Police say the accident is still under investigation and anyone with information may call State Police at Fern Ridge at (866) 893-3818.
